The house has been restored to the highest standards using local craftsmen and traditional materials, and many of its original features have been preserved. Handmade terracotta and travertine tiles cover the downstairs open-plan floors and upstairs is laid with warm antique oak. Traditional hand-painted doors lead into the two large bedrooms (one with luxury shower room) and a stylish main bathroom.

The newly laid terrace, with its truly spectacular views across the valley and to distant castles, makes the perfect place for dining "al fresco" in the shade of a vine and jasmine-covered gazebo, and there are comfortable sunloungers for relaxing on the lawn in the warm Italian sunshine or enjoying the glorious sunsets over the hills on the Umbria and Tuscany border...

Preggio lies within the province of Perugia, the region’s capital, just 12 kms to the east of Lake Trasimeno. It has its own bar- Osteria delle Vecchie Volpi, a restaurant- La Castagna, a small shop, café and post office and is, in itself, a busy and thriving community. The village is within easy reach of many of the region’s most beautiful and interesting places to visit. The medieval hill towns of Assisi, Perugia, Gubbio, Spoleto, Cortona and Sansepolcro are under an hour’s drive; Orvieto, Todi, Siena and Florence make perfect day-trip destinations.

The closest airport is Perugia (30 mins) served by Ryanair from Stansted from 20/12/06. The airports of Forli(Bologna) (1½hrs), Ancona and Rimini (2 hrs) Florence, Pisa and Rome (2 - 2½ hrs) are served by British Airways, Easyjet, Jet2.com and Ryanair. Perugia and Umbertide (10 mins) both have good rail links with Rome or Florence. A car is essential and can be hired easily at all airports.
