Welcome to Umbria ~ 'The Green Heart of Italy'

Casa Colibrì is a traditional stone-built village house, built into the original walls of the historic centre of Preggio, an ancient but thriving hilltop hamlet. This is the ‘green heart’ of Italy, a land of rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves and woods of oak and chestnut, where little has changed since St. Francis of Assisi preached here in the Middle Ages.

The four-storey house has been immaculately restored using local craftsmen to offer the best of modern luxury and traditional charm, combining handmade terracotta tiles and solid oak flooring, hand-painted furniture, antiques, original paintings and top quality appliances.

Stepping into the garden makes the transition from town to country, revealing a breathtaking countryside panorama across the valley towards distant castles and the Umbria/Tuscany border. At almost 2,000 ft above sea level, the ’big sky’ never fails to entertain as the days progress and the seasons change, from the dazzling displays by swooping swallows and soaring birds of prey to the magnificent sunsets and starlit nights, or the occasional drama of an approaching storm.

'Casa Colibrì has set the standard for holiday accommodation… it’s not often that places exceed your expectations…'
